What Nyon is known for

Paléo, Switzerland's biggest open-air festival

For six days each July, Nyon becomes one of the largest towns in the country. The Paléo Festival, on the Plaine de l'Asse, draws around 250,000 festival-goers — Switzerland's biggest open-air event and one of Europe's largest; it was named best European festival in 2026.

The rest of the year Nyon lives off its castle above Lake Geneva, its Rive quarter, its international organisations and its closeness to Geneva. The area also hosts Caribana, at Crans-près-Céligny, a more intimate festival that has grown considerably in recent years.
