Lutry is the gateway to Lavaux, the terraced vineyard that drops towards Lake Geneva over some thirty kilometres, from the edge of Lausanne to Chillon Castle. The medieval village, its lanes and its harbour sit at the foot of those terraces. Every year, on the last weekend of September, Lutry hosts the whole region for its Fête des Vendanges — a parade, open cellars, and crowds that fill the village and every road into it.
