A village that belonged to the archbishop of Besançon
At the start of the 13th century, Bremblens belonged to the archbishop of Besançon — four and a half kilometres from Morges, yet answering to a cathedral in Franche-Comté. He gave it to the canons of Saint-Jean de Besançon, who eventually sold it to Jean de Cossonay, bishop of Lausanne.
The name appears as early as 1177. In the Bernese period the village formed part of the lordship of Aclens, which the town of Morges bought in 1675. And the story can still be read on the shield: the arms, created in 1927 from those of Morges, carry an eagle — the attribute of Saint John, in memory of the Besançon canons.
